O MATOU MAHI / WHAT WE DO
Restoration & Enhancment of our Lake Environments in Te Hiku
To build support for the restoration and enhancement of our lake environments with haukainga, iwi, wider Te Hiku community and local agencies.
The significance of dune lakes in the rohe; unique ecosystems, cultural and spiritual significance.
*The need to protect our taonga and take kaitiaki roles seriously.
* The environmental restoration project is a catalyst for much broader outcomes in education, employment, economic growth, and improved wellbeing in Te Hiku.
*Community leadership and involvement is needed to sustain environmental protection, enhancement, restoration – all have a part to play.
*This is the start of a long term vision to improve the quality of all of the dune lake environments in Te Hiku.
