This year the Te Hiku Dune Lake Restoration Project will be part of the Te Hiku Rangatahi Noho Taiao wānanga which will engage 60+ Te Hiku Taitamariki in the project.

Ko ngā whainga matua: - kia whai whakawhanaungatanga - kia takahia te ara tūhura i roto i te ao pūtaiao mē ngā hononga ki ngā mātauranga Māori - kia hono ki taiao, otirā kia hono ēnei rangatahi ki tō rātou wā kāinga
Te Noho Taiao Rangatahi o Te Hiku is an event run in partnership with Te Rarawa, Te Aho Tū Roa, Te Kura Taumata O Panguru, Far North REAP, Torea Tai Consultants, Tirairaka Ltd and other local community groups, including the Dune Lakes Restoration Teams, Waikura Nursery, NRC & DOC.
It is an opportunity for rangatahi from different schools and Kura across the Far North to come together for a three-day hands-on learning intensive.
The main aims of the Rangatahi Noho Taiao were to strengthen whanaungatanga (connectedness), to give rangatahi a positive experience of pūtaiao (science with mātauranga Māori) and to connect them to their people and local environment.
HELPING TAUIRA CELEBRATE THEIR LEARNING, TO SHARE WITH OTHERS, TO INSPIRE AND INVIGORATE ENVIRONMENTAL ACTION ACROSS THE MOTU.
